Ok so I should let you know that these weddings aren’t being posted in the order that I took them.. in fact they aren’t even being posted remotely close to the time I shot them!!! But they are getting up here and that is a feat in and of itself. This was another wonderful day of shooting with Michele Bowman (www.michelebowmanweddings.com/blog)

So this wedding was one of the funnest weddings I have shot to date. They were SO laid back and didn’t mind braving the heat, or the rain to have some fun and get some great shots. Everyone was out to celebrate and PARTAY… and mand did they ever PARTAY.

And let me just say.. if I were to get married again… I am pretty sure my bridesmaids would be wearing HOT PINK dresses because they looked AWESOME at this wedding!

Here they are, Enjoy!

Yay, look at me being all on the ball and getting another wedding blog posted…

So here’s the thing, while shooting this wedding, I was SO sick. Now I don’t get sick often, and even if I do I can usually kick it in a day, but whatever this is has been holding on for just about a week now. And Saturday was the pinnacle of it all! I thought I was going to pass out during the ceremony because my body was seriously overheating, but at the reception there was NOTHING I could do to stay warm!

It was a really hot day, so no matter how much water I drank, I was still really thirsty. And trying to find time to go to the washroom throughout the day is not easy!

However there were some gleaming moments throughout the day. You will see by the number of pictures of them, how much I ADORED the twin flower girls. They were SO incredibly cute. I love shooting weddings with kids… they manage to make everything just a little more light hearted. Now I say this as a photographer, as a MOM, I can’t imagine how stressful having kids in a wedding must be… I mean they are all dolled up and want to play, but they need to stay clean, and then they barely get lunch because after the ceremony its off for pictures so they are HUNGRY – which equals GRUMPY, for my little guy anyway, and weddings are INCREDIBLY boring for kids… on top of all that weddings are usually in the summer so they are wearing more clothes than usual on really hot days. NOT SO MUCH FUN to be the kid or the parent right?

But as a photographer I LOVE having kids in the wedding… no matter how messy they get, their pictures will always be adorable, during the lulls throughout the day kids will always be up to something mischeivous and this always leads to great pictures. And when they finally get up the courage to strip down, just get comfortable and do their OWN THING… well thats just GOLDEN!!

There were 3 very sweet kids in this wedding and I had a ton of fun with them.

There is only one other thing I need to say about this wedding and it was all summed up when I heard what the theme was: BLING!!

OH YA!! I almost forgot, this was another wedding I shot with Michele Bowman! Check her out – www.michelebowmanweddings.com/blog

So as I said a while back, this summer I have been working as a 2nd shooter for Michele Bowman of www.michelebowmanweddings.com/blog

With all the portrait sessions I have been doing I haven’t had a chance to even look at my pictures from the weddings I have been shooting at! SO FINALLY here is a wedding post:

Leading up to this wedding I was absolutely terrified, terrified that I wouldn’t take good enough pictures, that I’d miss crucial moments, that my camera wasn’t good enough, that I didn’t have an eye for this… I pretty much felt like I was starting from scratch.

We showed up at the grooms house, and one of the groomsmen was bolting for the door. When asked where he was headed he told us that he didn’t have his pants hemmed and was heading to the mall to get that done. Now, Michele is kind of a jack of all trades, and offered that she could hem his pants for him, and then quickly realized that she is the photographer so she can’t spend the morning hemming pants! This led to a few moments of awkward silence, where all the years of watching my mom at work as a seamstress, flashed through my head. Then I don’t know what compelled me to offer, but all of sudden I was handed a needle, thread and a pair of scissors and off to work I went.

Never before have I ever felt my hands shake as they did while I CUT the extra fabric off of the pants – these were rented tuxes!!, and then trying to remember everything my mom had ever said about anything to do with sewing, I hemmed those pants, PRAYING that they would hang evenly when he put them on. Take a look at the pictures and let me know if I made my mom proud :)

When all was said and done, I finished the pants in time to get back in the car and head to the brides house. The day went pretty smoothly from there, but I think that was Gods way of taking my mind off the stress of photography, because once I was done hemming those pants I was just happy to have my camera back in hand and get to shooting!

Here are some of my pictures from their beautiful wedding day:

Jenny & Wes

As I learn more about what it takes to be a bonified “photographer” I am coming face to face with some of the challenges one encounters in this industry.

One being the fact that getting the shot is important, but getting the shot in a good location is what makes ya or breaks ya.

Recently I have been working to find some unique locations to do my photoshoots… with Jenny and Wes’ shoot coming up I asked them if we could shoot at a train yard I had driven past a couple of times.  Now Jenny was a little apprehensive about shooting in a train yard for fear that  her pictures (and I quote) “would look ghetto” LOL… Wes convinced her that it may actually be a cool idea to try this and without having met me, told her to trust my artistic eye (eeek talk about PRESSURE!)

Well Jenny & Wes, I hope these are everything but GHETTO. Thanks for trusting me enough to try something new…

Here is an awesome family who endured a ridiculous amount of very hungry mosquitoes to do this shoot. Little Keira brought along her baby and stroller and pretty much made me wish I had a little girl, with all the cuteness she was oozing!

Poor Louie is chalk full of some pretty sweet blood because he managed take the brunt of the bites, but unlike most men I know, he actually pushed on into the forest of man-eating evil mosquitoes and we got some great family shots.

Stacey, thanks for letting me capture these beautiful moments with your family. I sincerely hope I get to work with you guys again!

Trish, Tony & Zeus

I had the chance to spend a couple hours with these guys and we had a ton of fun.Trish and I go way back (4, almost 5 years to be exact). She works in the Deli at the office building I work in, and she always brightens my day for 2 reasons 1) She is always happy and never forgets to ask me how things are going and 2) because she works in the deli, she is directly connected to food, and that will always make me love her. Cuz, I LOVE FOOD.

Now something else you should know about me is that I am not a pet owner. Never have been, and it will take some convincing, but maybe down the road I will be. However, having done this photoshoot, I did see some similarities between Zeus and my son. For example, we couldn’t let Zeus off the leash for too long, in case he took off. Now I should clarify right here and now.. We don’t use a leash on Kai… HOWEVER if we do “let him go” for too long he will also take off. With Zeus, you can lure him anywhere with food… same goes for Kai he’s like his momma… he loves him some good food. Ummm what else?… OH YA!… Its really hard to keep Zeus focused and looking at the camera, and in order to do that I had to make ridiculous noises while trying to get him to look at me during the photoshoot. I also do this when I am taking pictures of Kai… but he still ignores me.

All that being said, I love having a puppy… errrr I mean son. Needless to say they both keep their moms on their toes!

Here are some pictures from my photoshoot with them.

Back to editting for me! (There will be some wedding pics up soon – I am just trying to get the pictures people are actually waiting for back to them first!)
